Fees and Services
Services provided:
Individual Sessions - In-person or Online Counselling (video/telephone)
60 minute session - $190
We typically spend the first 5-10 minutes checking in with you and your child and the remaining session is spent one-on-one with your child. Session are between 45-50 minutes in length with the remainder 10-15 minutes for documentation. Many teens and young adults get themselves to sessions (or log in online by themselves), in which case we can arrange a parent check-in after every 4-6 sessions. Please note, if your young adult is over the age of 18, I will need their permission to speak with you. If you are requesting virtual services for your younger child, please contact me further discuss as I want to ensure they will be able to have the full benefit of that type (virtual) of session. Parent sessions are also included in this rate.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) Session
90 minute session - $285
This type of therapy often requires up to a 90 minute session - session length is usually 75-80 minutes with the remainder 10-15 minutes for documentation. ART is a rapid therapy where you tend to feel relief within their first treatment session, with typical treatment lengths being 3-5 sessions. The first session involves a comprehensive assessment around the issue, Anxiety or trauma where together, we come up with a plan for the direction of future sessions. Further information about what to expect is also provided during that first session. Treatment will follow the agreed plan.
Using metaphor and eye movements, your loved one is able to rapidly process stuck images that trigger intense emotions and responses. ART may be beneficial for older children, teens or adults - please contact to ensure it would be beneficial for you are your loved one.
Phone Check-ins or Requests for Letters
We will spend 5-10 minutes at the start of your child’s session doing a check-in. Some parents like to check-in with me between sessions. Occasional phone consultations, under 10 minutes, are free; phone calls longer than that are charged at prorated rate of the session fee by 15 minute increment. Letters will be charged at a prorated rate based on session fee. If you are wanting more frequent support, I encourage you to schedule a parent session at the individual session rate.
Counselling Session frequency and length of service:
Children, teens and adults typically attend weekly sessions. This helps establish rapport and gain traction in addressing the areas of concern. When they attend weekly, they tend to get better faster. There may be limited biweekly sessions available. Session length varies depending on the issue and severity. This will be discussed further at the initial appointment. See above for further information about ART specific sessions.
Payment:
Payment is due at the start of each therapy session. I accept cash, e-transfer or credit card processed through the secure online, PHIPA compliant system, JaneApp. Please let me know at the start of session if you wish to change your credit card information or pay via an alternate method.
A receipt will be emailed to you and may be submitted for full or partial coverage through many extended health care benefit insurance programs. Please check with your plan ahead of time to see what they may cover.
Insurance:
Many extended health programs cover all or portions of counselling services, including Anxiety, ADHD and Trauma treatment. Please check with your insurance provider to confirm the details of your plan to determine what they will cover and ensure they cover Master’s level Social Workers. Also check around any limitations for online counselling, if that if your preference. There are many different plans, so please call your insurance provide and ask. I will provide a receipt that you can submit for reimbursement.
I currently direct bill Alberta Blue Cross and ASEBP plans.
Cancelation or Missed Appointments:
If you or your child are unable to attend their scheduled appointment, please text or email me at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged the full session fee. If you miss your appointment or show up more than 15 minutes late for your counselling session, it may be considered a missed appointment and you will be charged the full session fee.
Court and 3rd Party Assessments:
Ethos counselling offers individual therapy for children, teens and young adults addressing their identified struggles. It is important for those attending to know their information is confidential and won’t be disclosed.
Ethos does NOT provide services for court or other Third Party purposes.
What is Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)?
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (or ART) is a rapid therapy that uses calming eye movements to help process distressing images and difficult somatic symptoms associated with Trauma, Phobias, Depression, Anxiety and other conditions. Accessing the power of the brain, resolution often occurs within 1-5 sessions (usually 3-5 sessions). ART can be used in children, teens and adults.
